Thurning Instruments Ltd. Integrated Radiation Measurement Gauge RMS2000

Auf Deutsch

Thurning Instruments' RMS2000 is an integrated radiation detector for making thickness or density measurements with X-rays or gamma rays.

Advantages of the RMS2000 integrated radiation detector:

How the RMS2000 integrated radiation detector is used:

The RMS2000 radiation detector is used for making non-contacting, non-intrusive measurements using
X- or gamma rays in a wide range of fields.

RMS2000 is the choice when you need fast, high-resolution, thickness or density measurements in a harsh industrial or research environment.

The integrated RMS2000 is easy to install and offers exceptional immunity to the earthing problems that are often encountered with high resolution analogue instruments.

Due to its internal, high-precision analogue to digital converter, and its optically isolated RS485 digital signal transmission, the RMS2000 meets its full specification even in the presence of very high levels of EMI.

Thurning Instruments' systems are in service for:

Non-destructive testing of pressed refractory materials

Measuring void fraction and mass flow of steam/water two-phase flows

 Detecting foaming in hydraulic oils

Density logging of geological core samples, ranging from ice, to sediment and rock

Quality control of steel forgings and ferrite pressings

Thickness gauging of a variety of web products

Parameter

Specification

Measurement resolution:

0.1% of thickness or density reading down to 1% of range.

Non-linearity:

0.1% of range.

Zero stability:

2 x 10-5 of range/24 hours.

Gain stability:

0.1%  of range/24 hours.

Temperature stability:

< 0.01%/°C

Electronic noise:

< 10 ppm

Min. integration time:

1 ms

Max. integration time:

500 ms

Maximum photon rate:

> 1 x 1010/s

RS485 digital output:

20 bit, full duplex.

Instrument set-up:

The instrument set-up is controlled from a supervisory computer (PC) via the bi-directional RS485 link.  The user adjustments are gain/sensitivity(40:1 range) and integration time.  Access to the instrument calibration values is protected by password.

Power Supply and Environment:

The instrument operates from a 24V d.c. power source (20 to 30V) and draws less than 250mA.  The detector includes a high degree of isolation and noise rejection, so it will operate satisfactorily from unregulated power supplies.

It is designed for operation over an ambient temperature range of 0 - 45°C and is sealed to IP67.

Compliance:

The RMS2000 is CE marked for compliance with the European Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) directive.
